Playboy Enterprises Inc. has announced that it intends to open a gaming complex in Macau in 2008. The decision came after reports of rising incomes in China’s enclave, which is competing with Las Vegas as the gaming capital of the world.
“Macau has vast growing power as a travel destination, with the number of visitors expected to double between 2006 and 2011,” Christie Hefner, daughter of Hugh Hefner and Playboy Chairman and Chief Executive, explained. She also added that $2 billion will be invested in the Playboy Mansion Macao that will be built in partnership with Macao Studio City.
The 40,000-square-foot Mansion will feature restaurants, entertainment centers and retail shops. The complex will also include some of the trademarks of the Playboy Mansion, such as a pool, grotto and a villa-style hotel. Dealers will use the famous Playboy Bunny costume.
“Macao's enormous growth potential along with the extensive entertainment, hospitality and gaming industry experience of our partners make this deal an attractive strategic move for the company,” Christie Hefner finished.
