Since the beginning, controversy has tarnished the opening of the Gran Casino Aljarafe, but it didn’t stop its activity. In fact, besides the first croupiers’ course organized by the city when the casino opened, now there is a new group of young people studying at the casino and since yesterday they have set foot in the casino, but now as professionals.

They will work during the practice hours included in the studies contract that, currently, allows them to acquire the knowledge needed to develop the profession that they have been learning since March.

In the beginning, a group of thirty young people form 18 to 26 years old, were selected to join the classes at the casino, although as in any other activity, not everyone fulfills the requirements that this activity demands. Therefore, there are around 15 people who may opt for a contract as a croupier aspirant if they satisfactorily finish the studies.

Manual abilities, fast calculation, concentration and coordination are the main characteristics a croupier aspirant should have, according to Margarita Carter, sub-director of Games for the Gran Casino Aljarafe and also the school promoter. That is why during the six months of the instruction contract, aspirants fill their heads with infinite calculations, they learn every inch of the game’s rules (roulette, poker and blackjack), they assimilate the value of the chips and then put all that in practice in the gaming room.
